Hot on the heels of Sunday’s Grammy Awards come this evening’s Brit Awards. Leading the way for Urban music at this year’s ceremony will be Tinie Tempah, who is up for the hugely coveted British album of the year award and three other prizes.
The 22-year-old urban star, who had a quite sensational year in 2010, is also up for best single for the addictively hooked “Pass Out”, Best Breakthrough Act and Best British Male.
Competition will be tough though, with Plan B also up for 3 awards and competing for Best British Male in a category which also includes Mark Ronson, alongside legends Robert Plant and Paul Weller.
The Best British Album competition is no less fierce, with a trio of triple nominated acts all vying for a title which traditionally sees a post-Brits surge in album sales. Mumford & Sons, The XX and Plan B will all be hopeful of landing this particular accolade, with Take That a strong favourite to disappoint the aptly named Grime sensation.
Gavin and Stacey star James Corden will host the ceremony, taking place at London’s O2 arena for the first time and Rihanna is set to perform.
