Rapper Ja Rule gained a short reprieve yesterday after his sentencing hearing was rescheduled by a month until March 9th after an error in his pre-sentencing report delayed his hearing .
Ja Rule is set to begin a two-year jail term over a weapons possession charge brought against him, stemming from an incident in New York in July, 2007. He is going to have to wait a bit longer though before learning when he’ll start his prison term in the case. Prosecutors said on Wednesday that changes are needed in a pre-sentencing report for the platinum-selling rapper and actor.
He is now due back to confirm a sentencing date after he pleaded guilty in December to attempted weapon possession. The 34-year-old performer’s plea deal calls for a two-year prison term.
After announcing that his new album “Renaissance” would be out before he gets locked up, the month long delay could see this latest project reach its fruition. Although other projects that the star is reportedly working on including a sequel to his 2001 release, “Pain Is Love” may have to be put on the back burner unless the supremely confident and newly convicted New Yorker can work a miracle along with long time Murder Inc producer 7 Aurelius – the man behind hits like “Always On Time” and “Foolish” in the early noughties – and get “Pain Is Love 2” in the bag before he has to serve his time.
