When it comes to an Irish Hip-Hop success story, they don’t come any better than Maverick Sabre. From the early days in his mid-teens playing club nights and opening concert shows with Rap Ireland it was clear there was a huge talent in the making. Arguably the Irish scene’s most prestigious spitter at the time, it was at one of these concerts that Maverick met Plan B and the rise began to take a sharper turn. In fitting fashion, that faithful night took place in The Village, the same location where Maverick Sabre was to return to rock a sold out crowd as the headline act.
Another stalwart of those early days, Rap Ireland and RTE’s DJ Mo-K caught up with Mav backstage at his Galway show earlier this month. With both individuals seeing hard work paying off, this makes for a really interesting interview, where Maverick speaks on Irish Hip-Hop and the use of American accents by Irish artists. Enjoy!
