Following an extended hiatus from the music industry, former Fugees star Lauryn Hill recently announced that she was almost ready to make her long awaited comeback. The hiphop icon recently added an extra 12 dates to her ‘Music Target: Extended Playdate Series’ tour in America. During the L.A leg of her show on Monday, the singer/rapper proclaimed to fans:
“I want you to know how much I appreciate your support, the fact you’re still here.. I’m a be honest. I give the floor to whoever deserves the floor. You don’t hear me making music for no reason. If I have something to say and I really mean something, that’s when it’s time to put something out. And it’s getting close to that time, don’t you think? As my Jamaican brethren say, soon come.”
Over the weekend, the soulful songstress also commanded the stage at the prestigious ‘Coachella Festival’ in California. Despite a late entrance and issues with vocal levels, Lauryn treated fans to an energetic performance of Fugee classics and re-worked material from her multi-platinum solo debut ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’– including popular hits ‘The Ex-factor’,and ‘Everything is Everything’. The talented hip-hop star also paid tribute to her beau Rohan’s late father- the legendary Bob Marley; performing her own rendition of Bob Marley & the Wailers classic track ‘Rastaman Chant’.
