It has been two weeks since his release from Arizona Prison and DMX has wasted no time in getting back to work on his seventh studio album. In a interview with Billboard.com’s The Juice, X explains that he has been working “non stop, every day” on the project reportedly called “Redemption of the Beast” and hopes to have it released by December.
Dark Man X began recording the album before being arrested in November for violating the terms of his probation. Swizz Beatz, Dame Grease and Caviar are all rumored to have worked with the troubled rapper on the long awaited follow up to 2006 “Year of the Dog… Again” album.
“I kind of took it back to how I felt on my first album — the hunger, the energy, the hardness of it,” he said. “I’ve had a lot of late nights in the studio, getting it in, getting it back to where it’s supposed to be. [… The album will be] bringing hip-hop back to where it’s supposed to be. It’s not at a good place right now… [There’s] a lot of whack rappers out there. It’s too corny.”
Their are still rumors floating around the industry that X is close to signing with Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group, however when X was asked about it he simply replied “That remains to be seen.” The Ruff Ryder also says that he is “still in the negotiation process” over a reality show that unites him with his 10 kids.
Fans across the world are hoping DMX can put his legal troubles behind him and focus on making a solid album. “The first time around, it was given to me. Now, I’m working for it,” he continued. “There’s definitely a difference in what I’m gonna give, and what I’m gonna get out.”
For his first post-prison release, DMX recently teamed up with Busta Rhymes for a remix of Jay-Z and Kanye West‘s ‘Otis’. Busta released a short preview of the track whilst working in the studio with producer DJ Khaled. Check out the footage below:
