It hasn’t been a great week for Lil Wayne, what with the Ottawa 11th grader controversy cooking up a storm over the weekend. Simmering in the background has been this story of a jacked beat, which appears to becoming a pattern for Weezy of late (he was sued for Bedrock just last month).
The lawsuit emanates from a beat which rapper Rich Rick claims he purchased back in 06 from Drumma Boyz, and later sold on to Wayne with an agreement to receive 35% royalty. Needless to say, no royalties have been forthcoming from Weezy’s camp, and Rick has commenced this lawsuit to claim back those royalties plus a 10% interest premium.
In comparison to some of the more outlandish suing attempts of recent months, this seems quite reasonable in its premise. Provided Rick can back up these claims with hard evidence, we imagine the Wayne camp to move quickly to settle this issue.
