Lauryn Looks Back on Creating “The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill”

Former Fugees star Lauryn Hill is currently on tour performing her solo debut ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ live in its entirety at the Rock the Bells 2011 Festival over in the U.S. In a recent interview, Ms Hill reminisced about the album’s impact and what it meant to pour herself into her music for the making of the 1998 ground breaking album.

For the film series “Classic Albums By Classic Artists” presented by Reebok Classics and Rock the Bells, L-Boogie explains that the music allowed her to grow was able to execute ideas that brought back a nostalgic sentiment.

“I was excited about taking this music that I thought was beautiful—old school, doo-wop music, cats used to harmonize—just taking that and making something contemporary that my generation could get excited about,” She said. “I acted as sort of a bridge between an older generation and younger generation and how to put these musical styles together,” she continued. “I think Miseducation was really what that was all about, being a bridge between generations that could very well have drifted off in separate directions. I made a piece of music from a sincere place. I think that sincerity has no choice but to resonate with people.”
