Ja Rule has been sentenced to another two years in jail time after failing to pay income taxes. According to authorities, the 35 year-old is already serving a two year jail sentence on a weapons conviction, stemming from an arrest in July of 2007, when police pulled over his car after a concert and discovered a semi-automatic handgun hidden away.
Ja Rule previously pleaded guilty in March to three counts of failing to file tax returns. According to prosecutors, Ja didn’t pay taxes from 2004 to 2008, costing the U.S. Government more than $1.1 million-which he has yet to pay back.
According to the Associated Press, Ja Rule claimed: “I in no way attempted to deceive the government or do anything illegal… “I was a young man who made a lot of money – I’m getting a little choked up – i didn’t know how to deal with these finances.
Back in March, a judge pushed back Ja Rule’s prison sentence for ‘attempted criminal possession of a weapon’ so that he could finish his new album ‘’Pain is Love 2’’ due out later this summer and attempt to settle his debt with the IRS. The two sentences will run concurrently, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Jersey.
Poor Jeffrey cant seem to catch a break these days.
