Former Def Jam A&R Sues Diddy Over Shooting

Leroy ‘Tony’ Austin a former Def Jam A&R, is suing Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs over a shooting that took place in a parking lot outside one of his Justin’s restaurant chains.

Austin claims that back in November 2010, he was an invited guest to the Atlanta Georgia franchise of Justin’s Bar and Restaurant. According to police reports he and another man, Lawrence Jackson were sitting in a car listening to music when a gunman opened fire on the vehicle. Both men were rushed to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, where they were treated for multiple gunshot wounds.

The Associated Press reported that on July 15th, Austin filed a lawsuit against Combs and Justin’s in the U.S. District Court of Northern Georgia. The lawsuit claims that Diddy failed to maintain a safe environment around Justin’s. Stating that the operators of the restaurant knew of dangerous and hazardous conditions’ and that they failed to provide the required security on the property.

Leroy ‘Tony’ Austin is a Baltimore based music executive and rapper, who used to be Def Jam’s A&R head but is now the Co-President of the Russell Simmons Music Group. Austin also released a Gangsta Grillz mixtape with DJ Drama in May of 2010.
