It would seem that 2011 is not the year for Cheryl Cole. After many meetings and pleas with producers Cheryl was finally hired to do the US X-Factor, only to be fired two weeks later, apparently because of her accent. At least Cheryl had the fallback job of the UK X-Factor up until she was replaced on by Tulisa Contostavlos of N-Dubz. There is a definite attempt by the UK producers of the X-Factor to expand beyond the pop demographic and they have secured this by hiring Tulisa Contostavlos of N-Dubz and now Kelly Rowland.
Kelly, of R&B group Destiny’s Child, has replaced Dannii Minogue, sister of Kylie, and devout fans of the show are not happy. But producers have to do what they have to do to secure more ratings and widening the horizons to the world of Hip Hop and R&B seems like a good strategic move. What do you think?
