DMX Released from Prison

Rapper DMX was released from an Arizona State Jail in Yuma on Tuesday 19th July, having served an extra week for prison violations.

X, real name Earl Simmons, served nearly eight months of a one year sentence which he received for probation violations after he refused to give a drug test and some other minor infractions.

Sources close to the rapper, said that his first duties as a free man would be visiting with his probation officer and going shopping. Speaking to AllHipHop.com on his release, Dark Man X stated that:

“I spoke to my daughter, I just got off the phone with my wife, I’m going to go see my daughter while the sun is up then I’m going to be in the studio man”

AllHipHop.comalso reported that sources say he is eager to get stuck in to work immediately and is lining up shows and taking on board offers for television, movies and recording projects. Negotiations are also still said to be ongoing on a move to Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group, but an official offer is yet to be made. A close member of his crew said: “Our goal is to keep DMX on the right track, and get him back to work.”

His manager Nakia Walker said in a statement on his release;
“Earl has so much more to offer the world. His latest project has been on hold for so long! It is now time for X to redefine the world of Hip-Hop with his highly anticipated album of inspirational, painful & street accredited rhymes. It is time to let the Dog out of the kennel.”

The past eight years for the former Ruff Ryder has been put on hold creatively as he battled with legal and drug issues. Hopefully now we will see the return of one of HipHop’s greatest to the form that we are accustomed to; that raw, uncut, street, but heartfelt flow.
