For many people Chief Keef is the the antithesis of what Hip-Hop should be about. Coming from an angry young generation, Keef is charged with fueling the aggression and irresponsibility of youth, without having any political or social conscience as his predecessors N.W.A had in the early 90s. The 18 year old recently announced his new mixtape “Bang Pt 3” would “increase the murder rate” due to it’s violent lyrics and turned up music. Chief Keef hails from Chicago, where the murder rate in 2013 was shockingly high.
Amid this furore, Keef has managed to remain somewhat out of trouble, being locked away in court ordered rehab. Speaking in barely legible writing on Twitter this week, the Chief claimed he hated his own mixtapes, and blames their quality on the lean habit (which he has now supposedly kicked) and the fact that he was under the influence of the drug while recording and mixing the tapes.
“Yes I hate my own last mixtapes Cuz I was leaning and mixed them myself! Thought I Was! But I’m back No worries,” he writes on Twitter. Chief Keef has recorded and released three mixtapes since making it big with “I Don’t Like” in 2012 and the mixtapes Keef is referring to are the mixed reviewed “Bang Pt. 2” and “Almighty So”.
When a fan responded in shock to Chief Keef admitting his hatred for his own work, Chief Keef replied with “I’m always keeping sh*t 300 but I stopped lean Time to turn up.”
With Bang Pt 3 about to drop, we will see just how serious he has become.
