Philadelphia rapper Cassidy has come forward in an interview on The Joy Daily Show, addressing the so called beef between himself and his former mentor and producer Swizz Beatz.
Back in May Cassidy had taken to Twitter about his former mentor;
@THEREALSWIZZZ don’t even answer my calls anymore: we ain’t speak in over a year: i thought we was fam, but times change, Smh That why I changed.. Ain’t no love loss.. It is what it is
The Philly rapper explained in the interview with Joy Daily that he wasn’t really going at Swizz, nor was he trying to stir up any beef, but that it was more a combination of explaining to his fans what the relationship was- in the hope that Swizz would get in touch.
“I wasn’t really saying it to Swizz, I just was saying it to the people like my followers and fans, the people that hold me down and was wondering – what is the relationship with you and Swizz like. People was wondering, what’s going on, why he’s not really shouting me out or repping me, why I don’t really got no Swizz Beatz lately? A lot of people were confused and didn’t know the behind the scenes information.”
Cassidy also cleared up the fact that he and Swizz Beatz now converse more frequently and that he had even replied promptly to his Tweet to clear up that the situation between the two. It had been worked out, but then the blogs had already taken it to the next level and the Philly native stated that this is not what he had wanted at all;
“That’s not something I wanted the world to be involved in, what we was going through. I just wanted him to reach out to me because we made history together. He was a good support system. Even though I’m a stand up nigga, it’d be easier to stand if you got the support from a dude like Swizz. So I just was trying to reach out to him, let the past be the past, start from scratch and move forward.”
Cassidy has released four studio albums including his 2004 debut Split Personality, with his last installment in 2010, the album C.A.S.H. which was released on NBA star Carmelo Anthony’s Kross Over Entertainment and E1 Records label. This was the only album which didn’t feature the usual heavy Cassidy/Swizz Beatz powerhouse. With the issues obviously cleared up, we hope to see the two bring back that magnetic music fusion again.
