As well as epic performances, huge acclaim and the now standard, weird and wonderful entrance from the almost mundanely outrageous figure of Lady Ga Ga, there was also a couple of exciting announcements regarding upcoming projects and forth coming collaborations from Hip Hop and R&B’s glitterati.
Firstly it was confirmed by Black Key’s singer/Guitarist Dan Auerbach that there is more music to come from the 2009 hip-hop project, “Blakroc,” recorded with guest rappers Raekwon, RZA and Mos Def. The singer was speaking backstage and revealed that there is currently about half an album’s worth of music from the sessions that has not yet been released. It could be released as part of a deluxe album package this year and he says. “There’s some good stuff”, noting that the tracks feature performances by Jay Electronica, Wiz Khalifa and Currency.
Elsewhere R&B singer John Legend, who won three Grammys on the night expressed his excitement at having succeeded in tapping Kanye West to help him work on his next album. Legend told reporters backstage that he and West are already “off to a good start” and will reconvene in March for a two-week recording session in the studio. The singer hopes to be done with the set by spring. However there will be no Volume II of Legend’s recent collaboration with the Roots! ” We didn’t record extra songs,” the singer said, adding that he and the collective recorded different versions of the songs but only released the best ones.
