Yesterday, Outkast rapper Big Boi was arrested in Miami, Florida on charges of drug possession.
According to TMZ, the Miami-Dade County Corrections Department has charged the rapper with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. The reports note that the controlled substances were ecstasy pills, MDMA powder and Viagra.
Customs and border patrol dogs busted the Atlanta rapper as he was exiting a cruise ship. Big Boi, who’s real name is Antwan Patton, had been on holidays with his family and fellow OutKast member André 3000. According to booking information posted on the Miami-Dade jail website, Bonds totalling $16,000 were set.
A statement via his lawyer, Daniel Kane, was also released:
“While BIG BOI was traveling with his group and friends, a small amount of contraband was found in the collective luggage. I am confident when the entire facts are aired BIG BOI will be completely exonerated”
