Soulja Slim’s Suspected Killer, Found Murdered

The man suspected of killing No Limit rapper Soulja Slim in 2003 was found shot and killed in New Orleans on Saturday August 13th.

Garrelle Smith, 29, was found by New Orleans Police Department early on Saturday morning with gunshots to the head and chest.

Over the years Smith had been linked to at least five murders including Soulja Slim. But the NOPD could not prosecute him due to lack of witness co-operation. His reputation as a feared hitman being the reason that no one would step forward with information to the Police.

Slim, real name James Tapp, achieved success with Master P’s No Limits Record Label, and was renowned for writing Juvenile’s number one  U.S hit ‘Slow Motion’. Slim was killed on the eve of Thanksgiving, November 26th, 2003. He was shot eight times outside his grandmother’s house in the Gentilly section of New Orleans.

It is believed that Smith and another man Stephen Kennedy carried out the hit on Soulja Slim over a dispute with another record company for $10,000.
