Jamaican police are hitting back at the viral reports of Vybz Kartel’s early morning breakout, claiming to have “no knowledge” of the escape. Assistant Police Commissioner Les Green has said “I know nothing about that. If it happened I would have known.”
Unnamed police officers have set about countering the earlier reports, accusing Kartel’s “cronies” of putting the story out to stir up controversy and media attention. At this point various conflicting reports continue to emerge from Jamaica, though as of yet the Jamaican prison authorities have yet to present Vybz before cameras to prove the escape did not take place, an escape which would come as a huge embarrassment to the prison service.
