“Give the Drummer Some” is the Blink 182 drummer’s first solo album, due out across the pond on March 15th under Interscope Records. The album will total 12 tracks (16 tracks on the deluxe version) produced by himself, with the help of Kanye West, Dr Dre, The Neptunes, Swizz Beatz, RZA and DJ Khalil to name just a few top producers.
Big Hip-hop fan Barker, who said in a recent interview, “I probably listen to more hip-hop and drum’n’bass than I do rock music” is known in the Hip-hop world for his drumming skills and doing top remixes of Drake’s “Forever”, Eminem’s “3am” and producing rapper Game’s 2008 song “Dope Boys”. Speaking to MTV’S RapFix back in August he recalls, “Ten years ago … I’d be on tour with Blink or Transplants, one of my punk rock bands, and they’d be like, ‘What are you listening to?’ They’d be expecting me to say [something] like, ‘I’m listening to Minor Threat or Sex Pistols,’ and I would say … ‘I can’t stop listening to Low End Theory [by] Tribe Called Quest,’ and they’d be bummed,” Barker revealed. “That stuff changed my life when I was a kid. I’d always be real honest and up-front about it. I listen to everything. I listen to Minor Threat just as much as I listen to Tribe.”
Barker, who survived a plane crash back in September 2008 with the late DJ AM, has called on some of Hip-Hop’s best known artist features for this one. On the Blink man’s first solo album are T.I, Kid Cudi, Snoop Dogg, Lupe Fiasco, Clipse, RZA, Raekwon, Yelawolf and Bun B. The first single released off the album is called “Can A Drummer Get Some” which features Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, The Game and Swizz Beatz, is available now on iTunes. Before the release of his debut solo album he will be releasing a mixtape with XXL and DJ Whoo Kid on February 21st. From March 18th, three days after the album release, the Blink 182 star will be hitting the road for a 25 city tour in the U.S with Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Nicki Minaj.
