Bruno Mars has proven his star potential this week by selling out Dublin’s Olympia Theatre in less than one minute, according to Ticketmaster.ie. The R’n’B singer who has shot to fame recently with his singles “Just the Way You Are” and “Grenade” was previously in the Irish charts on duets with the likes of B.O.B, though this will be his first live performance in Ireland.
The reasoning behind placing chart-topping artists in relatively small venues such as The Olympia and The Academy has been raising eyebrows among industry pundits in recent months, with dwindling arena sales believed to be behind the move. Jason Derulo also sold out last Autumn, though little attention was paid to the fact that the venue capacity of 800 pales in comparison to the 10,000+ arenas R’n’B stars were filling in previous years.
That said, it provides the music-lover with a uniquely intimate concert experience and for that we should be grateful! As always, RapIreland.com has a pair of tickets for the Sold-Out Bruno Mars. More details coming this week.
