There has been months of speculation back and forth between the Atlanta native and the G-Unit camp, but it is now official that Shawty Lo has signed to 50 Cent‘s G-Unit. The Bankhead rapper is also dropping a mixtape of material that he says is one of his best to date. Speaking to AllHipHop.com about the signing and the mixtape Lo said;
“This is a special project for me, I worked real hard on making this one of the best mixtape’s I’ve put out to date. This is like something before the album, my new situation with G-Unit was just solidified and I got off the phone with 50 yesterday, I just signed a really large deal. It’s like a new beginning and all I needed was someone behind me. 50 [Cent] is a marketing genius and I got my new thing D4L and G-Unit and we going to be working the south and the rest of the world if need be.”
Shawty Lo released his debut album Units In The City in 2008 which featured the hit singles Dey Know and Dunn Dunn. He also gained notoriety for his public beef with the King Of Da South, T.I. back in 2008, but the two settled there differences in March of the following year. Hosted by DJ Greg Street, the new mixtape ‘B.H.F’. (Bankhead Forever) celebrating the ATL mc’s signing to G-Unit is now available.
