It has been reported that Wu Tang Clan rapper RZA has threatened to sue the Game for using a track he produced without his permission. RZA is said to have originally produced the song entitled Heartbreaker for The Game’s long awaited R.E.D album, however they failed to get the sample for the song cleared in time for the project’s release. Instead, The Game decided to use the track on his recently released Purp and Patron mixtape and was subsequently sent a cease-and-desist letter from lawyers representing the Wu Tang star.
The Game confirmed these rumours, stating “I think RZA [is] tryin’ to sue about [‘Heartbreaker’] or something. That’s fucking crazy. Like, I don’t even know how RZA sues The Game. He came to the studio and brought the [‘Heartbreaker’] track to me. He’s like, ‘Yo Game, this is for you. You can have that.’ Those are his words.”
The Game also explained that there were no hard feelings between them, claiming he would not speak down about RZA as he had nothing but respect for the rap star and his Wu Tang Clan members.
It has since been revealed that RZA’s assistant sent a statement to King Tech (The Wake Up Show) to clarify that they were informed by The Game’s management that the track was not going to be used. He also explained that RZA later received an offer for the track; to be purchased by someone else. “So this is not anything personal, and RZA has nothing but love for Game, but this is business and in all fairness, it would have been cool if they would have just let us know what the intent was, because we began soliciting the track for purchase and its looks like this was a double sale issue when it wasn’t”.
RZA must have taken a few lawsuit tips from Ghostface Killah…
