Last night in the US, MTV aired Lil Wayne’s much hyped ‘’MTV Unplugged’’ special. The show went out the same time as the NBA Finals, where Dallas Mavericks beat the Miami Heat last night 102- 95. The game cost Cash Money CEO Birdman 2 million dollars, at the start of the month he tweeted: ‘’YMCMBu$iness I Bet. 2million on tha MiaMi Heat.goin bye me another muthafkin WHip.we tha BusiNESS.I’m on 1.mula krazyless’’
Lil Wayne meanwhile joins the exclusive members of the MTV Unplugged club by becoming one of the few Hip-Hop acts to star in his own Unplugged special. Jay-Z, LL Cool J, and Lauryn Hill have all graced the MTV stage for unforgettable renditions of the show.
Weezy performed his hits with the help of a live band and also did an acoustic version of ‘’Lollipop’’. The hour long show included a cover of Tupac’s “Hail Mary,” and the debut of “Nightmares of the Bottom” from ‘Tha Carter IV’ due out sometime this summer.
“It’s very intimate and they damn sure picked the right artist to do it with ’cause if you’re not a full artist, you can’t do an ‘Unplugged,’” Wayne told MTV News’ Sway. “You have to be a full circle artist, you have to have everything because it’s so intimate. If there’s any flaws, they will be spotted. So I suggest you be flawless.”
