Congratulations to the latest young rap sensation to blitz the Itunes hiphop charts. London’s K Koke only today released his second mixtape (his first purchasable collection) but already he has blasted his way to number two in the online chart.
K Kokes first album/mixtape “Pure Koke Volume 1”, given away free over the internet, was a huge underground phenomenon, eventually reaching the highly tuned ears of none other than Jay Z himself. The ink on the deal with Roc Nation, the label which includes Rihanna, J Cole and Jay Electronica amongst others, was hardly given time to dry before the north west London man on a mission unleashed “ Koke Volume II” today.
A raucous celebration of the street and packed full of blindingly catchy anthems the album is a minor gem and whets the appetite more than sates it as you are left wondering how much more is to come from the obvious talent that Jay Z has backed to be a huge star on both sides of the pond.
It would seem then that the widely cited critical acclaim received by this young gun from the notorious area of Stonebridge in London is more than merited. Judging by the speed in which Roc Nation decided to release his latest material; a stellar year seems to lie in wait for him and for us.
