Over in America rumors of who will be on the U.S edition of “The X Factor” judging panel keep popping up in the press and now a major player in the Hip-Hop world is been scouted, well according to the NEW YORK POST none other then Young Money’s Barbie Nicki Minaj has been thrown into the mix.
The Queens native is reportedly in talks with Simon Cowell and met with Cowell in Los Angeles a few weeks ago to talk about a possible deal for Nicki to join the the panel. A source told NYPOST
“Simon thinks Nicki is fantastic. She’s sassy, she looks great and she has bags of personality, Nicki has a large following and she fits well with the ethos of the show, which plans to usher in a new generation of musical talent.”
Currently touring America with Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Travis Braker on the “I Am Music” tour Nicki hasn’t signed or finalized anything with a source telling NYPOST ““This isn’t a done deal yet, but Nicki would be great for the show. She fits the ideal that ‘X Factor’ will be exciting, vibrant, and different. And the show would also be great for her career.”
Former Island Def Jam Music Group chairman L.A Reid who launched major acts including Jay-Z, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, the Killers, Bon Jovi, Pink, Usher, Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna, was confirmed as one of the stars on the much-speculated-about judging panel last week.
With other big names been considered to join Cowell on the panel are Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and Cheryl Cole. Sources said Cowell is still deciding on the right mix of judges and Minaj could be just the person he is looking for to bring a fiery spark to the show which is due to kick of audition’s on March 27 in L.A and September will see it begin on the Fox network. The U.S version will see solo artists age 12 and over and vocal groups will battle for a $5 million recording contract with Syco/Sony Music.
A rep for Cowell and “The X Factor” wouldn’t comment on Minaj, saying it was “early speculation.” And Nicki’s reps also didn’t give anything always.
Would Nicki’s “Barbs” like to see her on U.S “The X Factor”
UPDATE: While Simon Cowell has been fanning the flames regarding Nikki’s possible inclusion, sources connected to Minaj tell us she won’t be a judge on the show, adding, “There’s nothing going on with [X Factor].” Only time will tell!
