Although Beyonce may be a global Goddess, she had yet to accustom herself with appearing on the festival circuit, that was until last weekend. After headlining Glastonbury on Sunday night, Beyonce had only one person to credit for enabling her to serenade her biggest audience to date. Her husband, Hov.
In the aftermath of her appearance on the Pyramid stage, where B played a selection of her own songs and covers, she was quick to redirect the limelight onto Jay, citing his performance at the formidable festival in 2008, as the instigator behind her own desire to appear there.
In an interview with BBC’s Jo Whiley and Lauren Laverne, BK suggested that had she not experienced her husband’s concert, her own may not have been possible. “I was able to see my husband perform here a couple of years ago and it was one of the most exciting nights for me and I don’t know if I would have been asked to come if he didn’t do the performance,” explained the modest musician.
The talented Texan explained that an audience as gargantuan as Glastonbury was something she had yet to familiarize herself with. “I don’t normally do festivals and 175,000 people, and I was very nervous.” However, Bey was quick to acknowledge the admiration she received from her fervent fanbase; “everyone gave me so much love and I will never ever, ever, ever forget this.”
Clearly B was overwhelmed by her first festival appearance, citing it as the highlight of her career. Beyonce will most likely retract that statement, after she runs the main stage in Punchestown, on Sunday, July 10th.
