Time certainly flies- it is hard to believe that nearly a decade has passed since the release of Alicia Keys multi-platinum selling album ‘Songs In A Minor’! The RnB singer recently announced that she will honour the album with a special 10th anniversary Deluxe and Collectors Edition. The highly acclaimed LP originally sold over 12 million copies worldwide; earning the songstress a number 1 debut album and 5 Grammy awards.
The remastered version will include special packaging, an enhanced booklet and the original album track-list that boasts the award winning “Fallin”, as well as follow up hits “Girlfriend” and “How Come You Don’t Call Me”. Set for release on June 28th, the two-disc ‘Deluxe’ and three-disc ‘Collectors Edition’ will also contain live versions and bonus material such as a remix of “A Woman’s Worth” featuring rap legend Nas; the Soundtrack version of “Fallin” from the blockbuster ‘Ali’; the Mix-tape version of “Juiciest”, and the previously unreleased “Typewriter”, “If I Was Your Woman” (Original Funky Demo version) and “Butterflyz” (the Drumline Mix). A specially created documentary featuring brand new interviews from Keys and her collaborators will also be included in the Collectors Edition. To mark this occasion, a vinyl version of the original album will be made available for the first time.
“It’s incredibly surreal for me to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of songs in A minor,” says Keys. “Looking back on the journey, I’m truly moved by my fans and friends who’ve been with me and have supported me throughout my career. This album is possibly the most precious to me, as your first album only happens once, and so songs in A minor will always hold a special place in my life that’s filled with amazing memories. I’m so proud that the songs are still being enjoyed around the world, and I’m crazy excited to share, through the 10th Anniversary Edition, songs never heard before, and even more of my debut album with you.” (Alicia Keys- Official Website)
To coincide with this milestone, Mrs Swizz Beats will also host two special gigs. The “Piano & I: A One Night Only Event With Alicia Keys” will take place in London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall and New York’s Beacon Theatre this June.
The album is available for pre-order at Alicia Key’s Official Store.
