20 Years of Nas

There are few artists in the game that can maintain the same level of creativity and relevance that Nas has achieved in the past 20 years of his career.

From his first public appearance as Nasty Nas at Main’s Stages’ “Live at the Barbeque” in 1991, to his debut album ‘Illmatic’ released on Columbia Records 3 years later, Nas has accumulated a loyal army of fans because of his inspiring lyrical content and his raw energy.

With 9 solo albums to date, and his monumental 10th due sometime 2012, there is a lot of Nas to enjoy and we at Rap Ireland look forward for more to come.

Last week, Nas dropped the official music video for “Nasty”, the first single from his upcoming album. On “Nasty”, the legendary rapper returns to the raw hip hop sound that catapulted his career, so it is particularly fitting that he returns to his home-town Queensbridge roots in the Jason Goldwatch directed video.

To celebrate Nas’ 20 years of passionate conversational rhyming, lets listen to the one song that shook the entire Hip-Hop world to no end- “Ether” from the classic album ‘Stillmatic’.
